Getting smart just got easier with these Gigabit Web Smart Switches

The D-Link DGS-1210 Series Smart Managed Switches are the latest generation of switches to integrate D-Link Green Technology, a range of physical interface types including Power over Ethernet (PoE), advanced Layer 2 management features as well as security functions to protect your network. With all of these features combined, the DGS-1210 Series provides superior performance and a cost-efficient and flexible solution for expanding any business network.

The DGS-1210 Series switches support 8, 16, 24, or 48 10/100/1000BASE-T ports. Each switch also supports an additional 2 or 4 Gigabit SFP ports for optical connections using multi-mode or single-mode SFP transceivers.

Six of the ten models in the DGS-1210 series family support Power-over Ethernet capabilities, simplifying deployments with IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points, and other powered devices. Using the switch’s management interface, an administrator can control various functions, such as remotely rebooting cameras or access points, from anywhere on the network, including over the Internet.

Extensive Management and Layer 2 Features

The DGS-1210 Series comes equipped with a complete line-up of L2 features, including:

  • IGMP snooping
  • Port mirroring
  • Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
  • Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP)
  • IEEE 802.3x flow control function

But that’s not the only smart features the DGS-1210 series offers. The DGS-1210 series understands that network maintenance is a big deal in big networks, so features such as loopback detection and cable diagnostics come standard.

Loopback detection significantly speeds up troubleshooting by automatically detecting and shutting down switching loops, while cable diagnostics determines the cable quality and quickly discovers errors, allowing for hassle-free diagnostics and maintenance.

Surveillance Mode GUI

The DGS-1210 Series supports different management options including Web-based Graphical User Interface (GUI), Simplified CLI through Telnet, SNMP and D-Link Network Assistant Utility. When using the Web-based GUI, users have a choice of Standard Mode or Surveillance mode.

Surveillance Mode detects compatible cameras and places them in a surveillance VLAN, allowing a single switch to be used for voice, video, and data. This means there is no need for dedicated hardware – thus reducing deployment and maintenance costs. Surveillance Mode also includes its own Web UI, making surveillance features easily accessible and simplifying management of your surveillance network.

Quality of Service and Bandwidth Control

The DGS-1210 series also offers an Auto Voice VLAN technology to enhance your VoIP service by automatically placing voice traffic from IP phones to a designated VLAN. With higher priority and an individual VLAN, these features guarantee the quality and security of VoIP traffic. The Differentiated Service Code Point (DSCP) markings on Ethernet packets enable different levels of service to be assigned to network traffic, and as a result, these voice and video packets take precedence over other packets. In addition, with bandwidth control, network administrators can reserve bandwidth for important functions that require higher priority or more bandwidth.
